At DanSteel, we have been active in the wind energy sector since 2002, when we delivered steel plates for the first wind offshore turbine in Denmark. Our continuous development of experience and capabilities in this segment makes us aware of our clients’ needs. Understanding the challenges across the wind energy steel supply chain led us to develop Bluewind – our branded idea of a one-stop-shop to provide value-add services to our customers, allowing them to focus on their key activities.
Today, we are proud to announce that the first DNV certification tests of thick heavy plates, (each 90mm x 3500mm x 10000mm) produced at DanSteel and joint-welded at our welding facility in Port of Odense are now finished with positive results which covered:
- Tensile tests
- Impact tests (at -50°C)
- Bending tests
- Hardness tests
The results were positive for both: base metal and welded joint, and cover the following steel grades:
- S355ML
- S420ML
- S460ML
Carbon equivalent (CEQ) of base metal: 0.32 – 0.33%.
The total weight of the joint-welded plate reached 49t, which already is a record plate size, and we want to continue breaking it further going beyond 100t.
It is a milestone achievement of our Bluewind Team, and we are eager to service our most trusted clients, accelerating the green transition together.
